Lisa Owens

I put wellbeing into your own hands. Teaching Ayurveda's timeless knowledge, blended with modern science of mindfulness to offer your integrative practices for daily life.
I guide people to reconnect with their inner guidance and natural balance, blending ancient wisdom with modern science to create practices that fit your place in life. Through personalized guidance, education, and nourishing practices, I help you step into deeper awareness, rejuvenation, and self-trust — so your health and vitality are truly your own. My focus is to empower you with tools that support where you are and where you want to grow, creating a path to sustainable wellbeing you can carry into every part of your life.
My path began unexpectedly — the word Ayurveda once passed me by unnoticed, but a quiet spark grew into a lifelong calling. Since 2009, I’ve studied, practiced, and shared Ayurveda with students and clients, earning my Ayurveda Health Counselor certification from The Himalayan Institute (2015) under Dr. Rosy Mann and Kathryn Templeton. I’ve taught group workshops since 2012, first trained as an Ayurveda Yoga Specialist and later earning the Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist recognition with the National Ayurvedic Medical Association.
Alongside Ayurveda, I bring 2,000+ teaching hours as a Registered Yoga Teacher (500+ hours of training), am a Reiki Master Level practitioner, and hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (University of Cincinnati, 2023). These disciplines weave together to create a holistic approach — combining timeless practices and modern science to help others discover balance, resilience, and vitality.

A foundation of growth mindset is embrace of challenges.
A Buddhism POV of the same practice may be 'The obstacle is the path'. While Christian scripture teaches that trials and hardships are not punishments, but often the very means by which God refines the soul.
We are finding purpose in the pain. Learn the lesson, with hope that lessons aids in how and why we are here - to be of service. Yoga practice trains the mind, cleans the body for the multi-faceted perspectives necessary & capable to work with grace through events happening in our lives.
Psychology has a label for all this as well. Post-traumatic growth...rising from the ashes as a mighty phoenix. Yoga practice helps our neuroplasticity, which is necessary for that growth. those are the traits and actions I teach through yoga: growth-mindset.

By 2013, Lisa was developing and leading her own workshops and curriculum, as well as teaching modules for the Ayurveda Yoga Specialist satellite training program in U.S. cities. Her specialty lies in bridging Ayurveda and yoga with people outside the typical yogi-sphere, making these timeless practices accessible and relevant. Today, growing research around mindfulness and holistic therapies continues to affirm the wisdom of Ayurveda, a 3,500-year-old science rooted in diet and lifestyle.
Closer to home, Lisa has been teaching regularly scheduled classes since 2011 at The Yoga Bar (Newport, KY). Her favorite styles to teach include Yoga for All, Yin, Pranayama, Vinyasa Hatha, Reiki, and Restorative practices.
Her Practice
Lisa began her yoga journey over 20 years ago, first exploring yoga alongside Pilates in college. From the very first class, she was drawn to the diverse bodies, subtle effects, and mindful breathwork that yoga offered. Over time, she built a foundation rooted in Ashtanga and Vinyasa, growing into a practice that has supported her through every season of life.
Her personal practice emphasizes movement with gratitude, along with patience and compassion for herself and others, on and off the mat. Guided by her teachers and their teachers, Lisa carries forward a solid and diverse foundation in the art and science of yoga.
